This topic was talked about in a very confidential group setting today. Good comrade Lacarr Hamilton had mentioned that he was going to evaluate all personnel that he deals with on a ratings system basis. This would include his whole area of artists from all genres from various intangibles to better help him understand the value , worth , credibility , and impact that each artist he deals with has... regardless of overly solicited sales pitches and musician confidence boosts I suppose.
I am here to write you today , to give you a comprehensive ranking list of very powerful people in the Philadelphia Hip Hop Entertainment Scene right now. This short run through is based on a persons overall community influence , the way that artists have benefited and made further networking extensions through these people's products and brands. It also serves to let you know a little bit of what is going on , analysis by way of experience through these entities , and why I've selected to rank these people in these fashions.
Number One on the list , and this isn't playing favoritism , the most influential hip hop entertainment music figure in our scene right now is Lacarr Hamilton. Build Your Own Brand appears to just gradually keep growing , expanding , and building it's enterprise on a daily basis. And there looks like there is no end in sight to the upside that this company possesses. You have to understand , I met this man as just an artist. And he was someone who had these visions , plans , and moves all in the tuck. BYOB wasn't even publicly out there when we first came in contact with one another.
Why is Lacarr at the top? This company has succeeded off of bridging all possible successful platforms for unsigned , independent and underground artists. The quality of musician who attends a BYOB show is very professional , willing to extend the relationship of working beyond the venues function , and is a very unique talent in their own right. You have to be involved in as many different cultural dynamics as possible. Lacarr Hamilton has sponsored people , organized battles , put together showcases , conducted contests , and has provided so many giveaways and prizes for just supporting what is going on.
Getting the known talents of all walks of life appears to be Build Your Own Brands next working experiment. Standing room only attendance for booking Gillie Da Kid , Montana 300 , Stalley , and PNB Rock. Mind you , these artists have all come through BYOB in under a span of 6 months. One to two headliners a month. All the while , still using marketing , promotional , advertising , and investing into the indie community from various creative diverse targeted opportunities. Lacarr Hamilton now has enough resourceful power around him to sign on artists through Build Your Own Brand. I have seen these artists get rewarded with high quality features in the industry. I have also witnessed these signed artists through the company to be put on BYOB bills , so , clearly the working to have that talent profit module is evidently in place.
Number Two on this list is Fiya Chick from Airitoutradio. In the speed of business , let's get nothing confused , if you have this conversation with people that understand the city abroad Fiya Chick can CLEARLY be the top influence on a lot of people's list. I will let you know the ins and outs of why I have evaluated her in this spot.
Fiyachick's brand has been successful at giving all undiscovered talents a grand stage to showcase their crafts on. An Airitoutradio show is likened to a fireworks spectacular. There are hosts that keep people engaged the whole way throughout , there's a mascot that dances around and is a great show , and Fiya reaches out to a very diverse demographic of young , old and middle aged people to enjoy all the entertainment the brand puts forth.
She has taken the independent entertainment industry to a very unique level of representation. Her branding has spanned the likes of water bottles , wrist bands , cookies , TV Game Shows , and most recently has a very large display billboard in North Philadelphia with the Airitoutradio Show getting that Clear Channel exposure. I have a theory that in terms of commercial capital , she's likely one of the wealthiest , with revenue streams coming from multiple income sources. Anything involved with Airitoutradio gets golden standard treatment and a very notable experience.
Fiya has lamented in times past about how much preparation it takes , how much goes into the production phases of bringing her creations to life , and the level of how she is willing to work on all cylinders to make sure every sponsor , artist , piece of social media , and miscellaneous task is confirmed to be on go.
Number Three to make this countdown is Uptown Ezy. Ezy is an interesting statistic in his own right. He represents the minority figure of musician in the underground hip hop entertainment scene who completely understands the process and business of extending yourself to other cities , markets , regions , and states. He has no external financial backing other than his own monies. He is able to reserve whole event functions for the sole purpose of showcasing his innovative brand.
A night out at an Uptown Ezy show will get you the Dope Citizen Art Collective. This is a great mash of all of hip hop's cultural elements on display simultaneously. That Dj is cutting them records. The people feel the vibe to dance. Oh , here comes Normal Gene with a soul blend dropping harmonious vocals right at ya. Ezy and Ash Shakur feed off of one another's energy and you can see that they've really done these combination scenarios an awful lot over times.
Ezy has extremely powerful mentors in his corner. The likes of Biz Porter from the Batcave studio runs hand in hand with Uptown Ezy as they politic heavily with a lot of moves at stake. He has also mentioned on more than one case , record labels whom have proposed deals , arrangements , and great interest into his musical pursuits.
Closing out this little sample of the most influential folks in the hip hop entertainment level of Philadelphia right now would be Gene Banks JR. Gene Banks JR recently was away from the scene for some time. But he is back and he is operating on the very same level of ignition that he had prior when I first became acquainted with him.
When I first met Gene Banks JR he was putting together very promising showcases in Northern Liberties at 3G Lounge. Folks from Delaware , New Jersey , and every part of Philadelphia would come connect through these kind of nights that Gene had put together.
Gene Banks JR is now back as a hip hop entertainment staple at Nu Style Entertainment Complex. He is responsible for the top of the week surge that we have seen in hip hop talent lately. Hip Hop Artists of all walks of life come over to Hunting Park Ave and get together , connect on good vibrations , and have really made a point of emphasis to push this experience for the community in whole.
The beauty in someone that works hard , looks to set an example , and is one that is willing to contribute to a cause in the world is that , they realize there is always something to do. There is always something that needs fixing , correcting , modifying , and innovating. This list has gone through a multitude of reinventions , different incorporated presentations , and varieties of getting their messages to a broadband population of creative commons. No one on this list is discriminate in the nature of their business , the people that they affect , and what their brands represent. That is why I have chosen them in this city , over more popular names , over names that have access to bigger venues. The new model of success in my eyes isn't the capital mode of industry. The people on this list are a success because they do what needs to be done to impact everyone around them.
